Canopy & Hiking Adventure Barva Volcano

Canopy adventure is a Costa Rican family owned business. The farm has 1400 acres and 700 of them are set aside for conservation purposes. This eco tourism project is under a program that protects the cloud forest and sells oxygen to the world. The other half of the property is a western cider plantation utilized under very strict process that is environmentally friendly. During the trip, we will pass through the picturesque town of Barva.  This town is famous for still reflecting its colonial era architecture as well as for its dedication in rescuing its culture and art appreciation. Once we arrive to our facilities you will have access to our bathrooms, changing rooms and a small store where you can prepare for the first activity of the day.

Our canopy tour has 13 platforms, and 11 of these are suspended around gigantic oak trees, typical to old growth jungles.  The cables used in the zip lining activity are galvanized stainless steel. The length of these go anywhere from 60 to 600 feet, and most of them are suspended on the canopy and go over beautiful waterfalls. Our tour is focused on natural conservation and the safety of our clients.

Get ready for a very delicious and typical lunch and after it get ready for your two hour hiking adventure. This is a 5 km hike. At an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level we will make our way along a dirt road towards our primary cloud forest at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level.  Paths will take us through the property’s rich vegetation.  With a spectacular view of the central valley, we will start our decent among open fields, secondary forest and cypress trees at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level.  We’ll reach the cloud forest once again to find springs, huge Fig trees and fascinating centennial oak trees. During the hike we will have rest areas where we can catch our breath while enjoying the fresh and clean air.

This tour is appropriate for anyone who enjoys nature, walking and learning.  The Two Hour Hike has a low difficulty level and will require an easy yet constant pace. The hike will end back at our facilities at which you can enjoy a fresh brewed pot of Costa Rican coffee.

Recommendations: Long pants, hiking or tennis shoes (no sandals), Sweater or light jacket and rain coat, pony tail (for those with long hair), video cameras are optional since we provide the service.
